Born in Brisbane and raised on a farm in Northern New South Wales, Robby has built a remarkable career spanning multiple genres. An aspiring singer and pianist from a young age, she earned her Diploma of Music (Jazz) from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, setting the foundation for her journey into the entertainment industry.
With a voice that became the secret ingredient on thousands of radio and tv commercials, Robby established herself as one of Australia’s top session singers and voiceover artists. In the 1990s, she also fronted her own bands in various genres including jazz, pop, R&B, and Motown. But fate had other plans.
In 1997, being booked for the same gig with country music icon Lee Kernaghan changed everything. Sparks flew—both personally and professionally—leading to a partnership that took her life and career in a new direction. Joining Lee’s creative team, she toured extensively and became a key vocal force on his albums, starting with the Hat Town tour in 1998. Her seamless transition across genres, from classical and jazz to R&B and country, showcased her versatility as a recording artist and performer, bringing her own style and influence to many of Lee’s songs.
"I'm a minestrone when it comes to music!" Robby laughs. "I've explored almost every genre, but it took a full-circle moment to discover country music through Lee. Growing up in a small town, I felt an instant, heartfelt connection to his songs and music."
